Getting Started with AI for Your Small Business

Where AI actually helps a small business today — and where it just adds noise. A grounded place to start.

Every week there's a new tool promising to transform your business with AI. Most of it is noise. But underneath the hype, a handful of things genuinely save small teams real time today — if you point them at the right problems.

Start with a real problem, not a tool

The teams that get value from AI don't start by asking "how do we use AI?" They start with a task that's tedious, repetitive, or a bottleneck — and then ask whether software can take it off their plate.

A few places it reliably pays off for small businesses right now:

  • Drafting and replying to routine customer emails and quotes
  • Turning messy notes, calls, or documents into clean summaries
  • Answering "where is this in our files?" across scattered documents

Keep a human in the loop

AI is a fast, confident intern — not an expert. It's excellent for a first draft and terrible as the final word. Build a habit of reviewing anything it produces before it goes out the door, and you get the speed without the risk.

If you want help finding the one or two AI use cases that would actually move the needle for your business, that's exactly the kind of thing I help with.
